Routines and how to stick to them

So personally my son and I don't always follow the same routine in the mornings but it works for us and gets his day going.

My one major thing is I set my alarm to get up before my son does, that way I can make coffee and start breakfast before he wakes up. Usually we start with eating breakfast together and watching some cartoons (Mickey Mouse 99% of the time lol)

After we eat breakfast we usually play with some toys and then work on some learning activities. I think routines work best not when you set a strict rigid schedule but when you have a general outline of what you are going to do.

Our bedtime routine still needs some work lol usually we take a bath, get our pajamas on, then watch a little tv
And read about 10 books (my son loves to read and I can't say no) I have a much older daughter as well (10) who follows kind of the same routine. She showers, gets dressed, and then we read in bed for 30 minutes before lights out.

I think the key to a bedtime routine is giving kids a chance to wind down. My husband likes to wrestle and play with my son in bed and everytime he does I end up being awake till 1am because my son has to wind down all over again. So my number one piece of advice for bedtime is to give your child enough time to wind down before lights out.

No matter what your routines are just remember these key points; don't worry adopt being so strict on exact activities, and give your child time to adapt if it's a new routine. You can't expect them to adjust in a day or even a week, I'd give it about a month or so until they get used to it.

See you all Saturday for the most fun and planned out post for me, mom fashion! Lol
